Xmas Break Pics 1
It's that time of year again -- and I'll be out of town for about two weeks for the holidays. Here is a double helping of guinea piggery to get you through.
There was a remarkable pig on Cute Overload a few weeks back with the cutest wide-open mouth. I made a few variations on the theme, trying to capture his great expression.
More will come along as I get them polished up.
The holiday season brings pies, and when there are pies there's a lot of rolling to be done.

Happiness is...
"I would not take the ring even if I found it by the side of the road"
[Hopefully, this looks like who it's supposed to be, and not Chad Kroeger from Nickelback. I don't think Lyra-pig would coming running for HIM...]
"Then you and I will slip into my velvet igloo, and begin the butt-dance of love"

Dentistry and prairie dogs
GP Dentistry:
So, there's a sad story to go with this: A few weeks I accidentally dropped Wesley, and he broke his upper front teeth out in the fall. We were told that he would be eating with a syringe for six month; that we would have to keep bringing him to the vet to have his teeth shaved, and might want to consider putting him down. Well, it's been two weeks, and Wesley's eating baby carrots with no real difficulties, and managing apples, oranges and parsley that are cut up, and holding his own with the other two pigs. His vet check today was cautiously optimistic: he hasn't lost much weight and his teeth seem to be growing back and straight for now. It will be tense for a while, but hopefully eating normally will help him recover more quickly.
Prairie Dogs
You might have seen my post this past summer with the Muppet prairie dogs singing "Blue Skies." Cutest things ever -- go watch it, and then find the YouTube video with those singing "The Best Things in Life are Free."

Get better soon, WZA! I'm so sorry!

World Domination -- Lyra-pig Style!
Hi everybody -- so I've finally gotten a handle of my job app's and reached a happy place in grading and teaching. And you, the public, will reap the benefits.
I have a big sheaf of new pics that I will be posting over the next few days. Here's a Lyra-pig taking the world by storm (and starting in Australia, which usually a good strategy):

Overdue pictures
I have been remiss in updating, getting way too involved in what seems to be an endlessly frustrating and sometimes utterly futile project of finishing my chapter. But here are some new guineas.
Baby Lyra-pig loves Uncle Eddie's cuckoo clock.
Coming soon to a theater near you, Lyra-min stars as Dr. Challenger in A. Conan Doyle's The Lost World, featuring real live toxodons, ten-foot cavies from prehistoric South America!
(Update note: Doyle may have been a bit mistaken: a toxodon is a prehistoric ungulate that looks a lot like a friendly rhino; but this even more congenial fellow was found in 2003. Here's Dr. Challenger's prehistoric guinea.
And here's an image I just uncovered of a wholly new form of cavy to me, the Rock or Acrobatic Cavy. Whoopee!

Epic Fantasy Warfare Cuteness
While watching The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe the other day, Lyra suggested that the reason that this movie was better than Lord of the Rings was that there were more fuzzy animals in the battle scenes. I told her that it was too bad that the Bunny Brigade scenes were cut.

We're back!
Hello all,
We're finally back from the h-moon, and all moved into our new place, and pretty much ready to get back to real life.
There was a bit of an accident unfortunately at the house yesterday. Sauce got one of his front toenails squished underneath the caster of a rocking chair when I leaned on it to look for him. He's okay -- a trip to the vet, some styptic powder and Neosporin and he's good to go. He's not limping or anything and seems to be in no pain.
I feel horrible about the incident. Needless to say, the rocking chair went out of the piggie room, replaced by something less treacherous. Now he's bragging to the other pigs, playing up the experience:
PS) Statcounter sez that SLGP has had 8,002 hits since its creation with 5,182 unique visitors. How about that? There were almost a whole thousand since my hiatus last month. This is serious guinea piggery going on, you guys!

Blue Skies
We are very nearly back from a wonderful, glorious honeymoon. Just packing up here at the Woolverton Inn, and then we're off to pick up the piggies.
Here's an adorable video from the Muppet Show to tide you over until I get some cartoons ready. It's face-meltingly cute, so be careful...

New pics & an announcement
Hello all,
TSLoGP will be on a brief hiatus until the middle of July so Lyra & I can get married and have a honeymoon. Even the pigs get a vacation out of this, and will be at their Grandma's!
In the meantime, I have some new pics:
Lyra-pig's frustrating process of finding a wedding dress...
Baby Lyra-pig and her new friend, an anteater, share a snack...
And we recently found a pair of white woodchuck pups by the lake. They were curious little fellas...

Final Travel Pigs
Here are the last images from my recent trip:
The Lyra-pig very kindly packed me a care package
And here's an image of the bassinets that airplanes for their baby pig travelers.

More travel pics
Two posts in two days -- yeesh, this might spoil you! :)
Here are two more drawings from my recent trip. I had a very long layover in the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, and made these pictures while sitting at a bar in the D Terminal.
This gentleman was striking because of the contrast between his camouflaged baseball cap and the Bluetooth device sticking out of his ear.
Business travelers are always very busy.

Sorry for the delays -- I've been really busy with school. But here are three new peegs for your crudely-drawn pleasure.

5K? w00t!
Hey everybody -- a little milepost passed by sometime in the last two days. The Secret Life of Guinea Pigs has had 5,000 visits.* I had no idea when I started this that so many people from so many different places would be interested in my cartoons.
Thank you all for your visits and comments and encouragements. New cartoon coming soon!
* The counter at the bottom says out of those 5,093 hits, 3,211 have been unique visitors
