This is done on a laptop mousepad. Thought you should all have a holiday picture before we head out of town.
After a terrible timothy hay accident, I awoke with the ability to see the shocking and amazing secret lives of guinea pigs -- the stuff that they think about doing while grazing all day. Look deeply into the cold black stare of cavia porcellus and see CUTENESS!
On to the toons:
From my old notebook, more travellin' pigs!
L commissioned a portrait of a night out with a whole bunch of our real-life stuffed animals. See, there's (from left to right) Flowerdew, Kippers, Flotilla, the Big Bunny, S'eepin, Secret, Applesauce, Temperance, some unnamed hamster, Happenstance, Theodore, Small Feet, Lemons, Pachy, Camden, Lawrence (on the ground), and Gus. whew!
News Flash: Lyra eats a bug!
Well, not that old. I think these came from my trip out West two summers ago. The character down in the right corner is a portrait of my Dad working on his crossword puzzles in his man-cave. The two above that were observed in some really cool chairs at an airport, I don't remember which (Dallas-Ft. Worth?).
Our last guinea pig, Wesley (aka the WZA) was put to sleep yesterday. He hadn't been eating for a few days and when we took him to get checked out, the vet said he had the early stages of cancer and would die soon, in a slow and painful manner. He was an old man (a grumpy old man)--a few months shy of six years old, and we knew that any sickness would be his last. Wanting to save him the agony, we decided to put him to sleep. He went quietly and peacefully, and we buried him in a local park next to his brother, Sauce.
Now we have no guinea pigs and no real plans to obtain another, at least for a long time. The house feels a bit less cute now.
More GP toons coming soon though!
I was just getting used to drawing on my old laptop using a pen stylus and Photoshop, now the puter starts acting very erratically. The screen on the old girl is burning itself out after seven years of valiant service. I'll have to go back to scanning my pictures at work though I will have to post them raw, since my old copy of PS doesn't work on my new laptop.
Whatever keeps the GPs flowing. We'll get this figured out.
Two happy folks at the aquarium.
L's favorite drink...
Just take one big piece of corrugated plastic and turn it into a little box. Then turn your guinea friend loose!
Bad storms coming this way. Wet pigs in the forecast.
PS) No power outages, though L & I did get supremely wet when it dumped rain on our walk. Yeesh.
